WHANGAREI MEETING.

THE OPENING , DAY.

FIELDS FOR TO-MORROW. RECENT FORM REVIEWED. The Whangarei Racing Club's spring meeting will open at Kensington Park tomorrow and conclude next Saturday. This fixture is always a popular one with the public, and if favoured with fine weather some excellent racing should eventuate, as the fields are up to the usual standard. The following is a review of the latest form: — Spring Plate. For the opening event, the Spring Plate, 22 horses have been paid up, but few of them have any credentials worth mentioning. On Approval and Eldora both displayed promise at the recent Avondale meeting, and are likely improvers. Echo Song has been galloping well at EJlerslie, and should be in the money, while Lady Winifrede and Sister Em are also possibilities. The chief fancies may be ELDORA ON APPROVAL ECHO SONG. Hikurangi Handicap. Several smart hacks are engaged in the Hikurangi Handicap, in which most support is likely to be accorded Royal Gallant and Dclrain, who can be depended upon to run solid races. The bracket Hawthorn and Good Idea, should also show up and Bugle Call's forward running at Avondale warrants him getting plenty of support. Of the others Lady Vane, Black Marlin and Currajong appeal most. Most money is likely to come for

DELRAI-N ROYAL GALLANT BUGLE CALL. The Hurdle Event. The Jorin horse in the Huanui Hurdles is Patutahi, who performed well at Ellerslie, and he .is sure to get solid support. Neil, Aroh Eagle and Snow Prince are previous winners, but the two latter have not raced tor some months and may need a run. Motere and Imperial Prince are new to the game, though likely to go well, as both haye plenty of pace. Sleepy Sol is the most likelv to effect a surprise, but the public are likely to prefer PATUTAHI NEIL ARCH EAGLE. The Cup. A useful field is set down to contest the Whangarei Cup. Royal Artist has.not been sent to the meeting. Latest form points to King's Archer being hard to beat, though Bronze Tray, who will be racing on his home course, is sure to be dangerous. Grand Tea has been off the scene for some months, but is a useful sort at his best. Alloy, Teels and Flying Prince look the pick of the lightweights. Investors may prefer . KING'S ARCHER BRONZE TRAY FLYING PRINCE. The County Handicap. There are a dozen acceptors in the County Handicap, including several of unknown quality. The top-weitrht, Frothblower, has previously shpwn up in similar events and will have friends. Hoihoma is also speedy, as also is Black Marlin. Of the remainder British Columbia, who showed promise at Avondale, may be best. The favourite division may be. HOIHOMA FROTHBLOWER BRITISH COLUMBIA. The Hack Sprint. There are only eight acceptors in the Kensington Handicap, and Lord Aintree is sure to be a strong fancy, and whatever beats him should win. Hawthorn, Princess Star and Lord Willonyx also appeal. Echo Song and On Approval are possibilities. The bulk of the money is likely to come for LORD AINTREE HAWTHORN PRINCESS STAR. The Manaia Handicap. There are several useful sprinters included in the Manaia Handicap and betting is sure to be brisk. Tea Chat can run a smart six furlongs and will be in demand. This also applies to Hampton Park. Exaggeration ran a great race at Ellerslie, and on that form will be hard to beat. Imamint, Royal- Gallant and Karangapai should also show lip. Those in most demand may EXAGGERATION • ~ .ROYAL GALLANT TEA CHAT. The Final Event. The final event of the day is the Parahaki Handicap, and good support is sure to be accorded Whakapara, Vandyke and Bronze Tray, though the lastnarued is engaged ■ in'" the Cup earlier in the day. Jalldy Karo. Alloy, G.ay Idea and Helium should also show up. Latest form warrants most money being invested on WHAKAPARA' BRONZK TRAY HELIUM.
