OWNERSHIP OF HORSE.

. APPEAL JUDGES' FINDING. CASE REFERRED BACK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The appeal judges, Mr. George Gould, Sir Charles Clifford, and Mr. A. I. Donnelly, have delivered judgment in an appeal bj* the executive committee of the Racing Conference against the decision of the Greymouth District Committee in connection with the ownership of the horse Earthquake. The committee's decision was: "That evidence as to the ownership of Earthquake discloses grave doubte, but the committee is of the opinion that it is not sufficiently Conclusive to prove the present owner of the lioree to be other than Mrs. M. M. Turley, but that, nevertheless, contradictory statements made by. Fenton deserve a severe caution."

The judges directed that the matter should be referred back to the Greymouth District Committee for a rehearing, -and further consideration under Rule 384 (1) (E). The judges continue: "We direct the Greymouth District Committee to hear and determine whether any person, who is now, or: has at any time been, the registered owner of Earthquake, has committed an , offence against the rules of racing."
