WEEKLY TRAM TICKETS.

CHRISTCHURCH EXPERIMENT. AUCKLAND TO INVESTIGATE. A scheme of issuing weekly passes on the trams is being tried, at Christchurch, starting from to-day. It is an American system. The object is said to be to give the constant tram user. an advantage over the casual user and to encourage the use of the trams during slock periods. For 3/ passes will be issued enabling the holder to travel as often as he likes within e four-section radius; and for 5/ a pass for iise over the whole tramway system. The tickets are transferable. In. the United States the charge is one dollar for a pass usable over the whole system. Asked this morning if anything of the kind was intended in Auckland, Mr. J. A. C. ATlum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, said the board had only this morning received particulars of the Christchurch innovation from the Tramways Board in that city. The Auckland board would watch the Christchurch experiment closely, and see how it worked out in practice. Hβ could not say what would be done in Auckland until the matter had been thoroughly investigated.
