RIFLE SHOOTING.

AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. The first short-range championship shoot of the season was fired by members of the' Auckland City Defence Rifle Club on Saturday afternoon at Penrose. Shooting -was of a very high order. The outstanding score was made by 5. Simmonds with 49. one- off (he possible, at each range. C. J. Robieson. maintained his lead lor the championship by scoring 95.

The' Aknrana Kiflo Club fired their fifjth shoot of the first trophy scries over the range of 300 yards at Penrose rifle ranse for trophies presented by Messrs. F. W. Comber, B. J. C. Reston and J.
