RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. The first short-range championship shoot of the season was fired by members of the' Auckland City Defence Rifle Club on Saturday afternoon at Penrose. Shooting -was of a very high order. The outstanding score was made by 5. Simmonds with 49. one- off (he possible, at each range. C. J. Robieson. maintained his lead lor the championship by scoring 95.

The club will fire the second round of the second trophy at 20pyds .and 300 yds next Saturday. AKARANA CLUB. The' Aknrana Kiflo Club fired their fifjth shoot of the first trophy scries over the range of 300 yards at Penrose rifle ranse for trophies presented by Messrs. F. W. Comber, B. J. C. Reston and J. K.. Draflln. Weather condition's were dull light and a roar fish-tail wind. Trophy points were awarded the three top men in each- section. Details of the shooting are as follow:—
