VARSITY COMFORTABLE-LOOKING.

There were no fireworks in the game between 'Varsity and King's Old Boys out at King's College on Saturday. King's Old Boys got 112 in the first innings, and University arc 120 for eight.

Johnson was tlie best'of a not very good King's lot. His 30 ■β-rs the result of more hard pegging than brilliant cricket; but he stuck, nnd seemed most nt home with the bowling. He got one or'two nice fours through the covers, and drove well past mid-on.

Garrard was most successful bowler and ho got four for 20. Ho was master over the ball on the day, and it was his slow ensy looking deliveries that reaped them. One man he had stumped, another Ibw, a tale ■which tells its own story. Schnauer was bowling into the wind, and swerving both ■ways. He was breaking into leg fairly consistently, and used a half-gale with effect, the University fielding was patchy. Matheson took two utterly brilliant catches, Bush took another gooa one, and .Tessup played butter-fingers in the outfield. The throwing-in generally -was poor, too. Be it said, though, for those men in the country, that the paddock, could have done .with a scythe over it at least twice. $*Sperice' went well for 28.
