CRICKET FORM. AUCKLAND SCORING IMPROVES. S4.LE GETS SEASON'S FIRST CENTURY. The batting form in Auckland senior cricket showed an improvement in two matches en Saturday afternoon, an d the North Shore batsman, S. Sale, scored the first century of the competition. No doubt firmer wickets helped the batsmen, but, on the other hand, a guety wind assisted the bowlers, and good trundling averages were obtamd in two of the matches. Ponsonby's first innings against Parnell was in the nature of a collapse, the side being out for 132, and Parnell put on 95 for two wickets. King's OM Boys were dismissed for 112 by University, who, however, do not promise to have a long lead, as they lost eight wickets for 12. G. L. Weir performed well with the ball for Eden in getting five North Shore wickets for oG runs. Garrard (University) took four King's wickets for 20. McCoy (Parnell) claimed three Ponsonby victims for 18, and Vivian four for 31. Simpson, King'e fast bowler, got good figures against University in dismissing five of the side.
