INFALLIBLE BIBLE.
Church Controversy in South
Africa.
PROPESSOR WILL NOT RESIGN.
(Received I.SO p.m.)
CAPETOWN, November 4,
The Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church, following the decision of the Supreme Court, decided to revoke the resolution indicting Professor Duplessis on a charge of heresy for refusing to interpret the Bible literally.
Professor Dupleseis has now refused to resign on full salary with a pension after his seventieth birthday, and demands reinstatement.
The synod unanimously requested him to reconsider his decision.
A wealthy Stellenbosch bachelor has announced a gift of £10,000 to establish a journal for the defence of the infallibility of the Bible in every detail.
