STRONG DELEGATION.
British Representation to Indian Conference.
SIR J. SIMON INCLUDED,
(British Official Wireless.) " (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, November 4. The British Parliamentary delegation at the forthcoming Indian Round Table Conference in London will consist of Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald, , president of the conference, Viscount Sankey, deputypresident, Sir Samuel Hoare, Viscount Hailsham, Sir John Simon, Lord Irwin, ex-Viceroy of India and now Minister of Education, Mr. J. C. C. Davidson, thtirman of the Indian States Committee, appointed by the last conference, and Mr. R. A. Butler, UnderSecretary for India.
The non-Government delegates will be Earl Peel, Earl Winterton, the Marquess of Reading, the Marquess of Lothian. The Labour Parliamentary party was invited to nominate representatives, but prefers to take no part in the discussions at thli stage.
The British delegation is probably the strongest ever .associated -with Indian afftirs. Sir John Simon's inclusion is of particular interest, as he is" one of the Ministers •with the greatest knowledge of India. The task of the conference is to harness the aspirations and ideaM of its predecessors to the realities of the Indian political conditions.and British Parliamentary responsibilities. The strength of the delegation indicates the'importance the Government attaches to the deliberations. The Government believes -that with good will, patience and the desire and capacity to understand each other's points of view shown-at the Round Table Conference, they should be able to make progress in securing a measure of agreement as a preliminary to the concluding stage of Parliamentary discussion and legislation. »
