PAPATOETOE WELFARE.
The Papatoetoe Welfare League held its monthly meeting on Thursday, when Mr. S. J. E. Closey, the president, was in the chair.
It was decided to make a recommendation tb the Minister of Justice and the Law Society for the reduction of the scale of fees of solicitors, and also that it be laid down on what occasions the procuration fee is legally chargeable.
A committee, comprising Messrs. Closey, W. A. Nesbitt, and McMehan, was set up to organise a concert to be held in December, in aid of deserving cases of distress in the district, and to provide Christmas cheer.
