ENGINEER'S ARREST.
COMPLAINTS IN NEWMARKET,
An engineer, Sydney William Morris, aged 44, arrested in Newmarket last evening, appeared in the Police Court this morning, charged with being an incorrigible rogue with insufficient means of support. He pleaded not guilty. Two constables stated that accused had frequented hotels and reserves in Newmarket for somo time, and had entered shops, where he "cadged." When refused at private houses Morris Would abuse and swear at people. Mr. Cocker said accused said he had a position to go to on Monday. "From personal knowledge of this man, I know he works well when he is sober," added counsel.
Remarking that it would be better if Morris did leave the town and go to work, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., adjourned the case until Monday.
