PROFICIENCY EXAMINATIONS.

WELLINGTON, this day.
A complete denial of the report that children were being charged an entrance fee for the forthcoming proficiency examinations was {riven in the House last night by the Prime Minister, Et. Hon. G. W. Forbes.
Mr. Forbes said the National Expenditure Commission had recommended that the fee be charged, but that recommendation was not being adopted.
