Line of Concrete "Pill Boxes" Along the Rhine. LORRAINE FORTIFICATIONS. (Beceivcd 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, November 3. The essential parts of the new fortifications along the Rhine are practically completed. They consist of a series of concrete "pill boxes" placed in clumps of 10 at every point where it might be possible for a hostile army to cross the river. The armaments consist of light artillery and machine-guns. The new defence* works along the Lorraine frontier are equipped with heavy guns and will take two or more years to complete.
