DEFENDED DIVORCE.

MISCONDUCT ALLEGATION. WIFE'S DENIAL. A petition for divorce on the ground of misconduct was made in the Supreme Court this morning by George Harold Little, motor mechanic, against his wife Audrey Little. Ronald Wilkinson was joined as co-respondent. Mr. M. .Adams appeared f'»r petitioner, Mr.. S. Clark for the wife and Mr. J. J. Sullivan for the co-respondent. The parties were married in 1921, and lived' in Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North and other places, finally coming back to Auckland. There were three children. A separation order with maintenance for the wife and children was made in the Magistrate's Court, Auckland, in September, 1930. Petitioner could not comply fully with the order and was at present on relief work, said his counsel. About six months ago the children were placed in a home. _ , Evidence given by Little and a private inquiry agent, named George Henry Humphries, was to the effect tihat they shadowed Mrs. Little in November, 1931, and that one niglit sht left a dance midnight and drove In a motor car with a man to the Domain. When the car parked on one of the drives the lights were put out, and the witnesses approaching silently, surprised Mrs. Little and the co-respondent. . „ The defence was a complete demai that there had been any misconduct. Mrs. Little went into the box and said that since proceedings were begun her husband had asked her to come back. He said he knew the accusation against her was not true, and if she would consent to make it up again the whole thing would be wiped out. Co-respondent said he had known respondent for about eight weeks before the incident in the Domain. After the dance he drove respondent home, and suggested a "little blow" before taking her to her home. He denied that there was any impropriety in the Domain. (Proceeding.)
