GOLDFIELD VENTURE.
SCHEME AT COROMANDEL WORK BEGINS NEXT WEEK. GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) THAMES, this day. An announcement was released to-day by Mr. R. M. Aitken, holder of a quartz claim of 60 acres at Kuranui Hill, that a company will be registered this week to work the ground as a low grade ore proposition. Operations start on Tuesday. This is made - possible by the Government loaning 100 kva, about £1000 worth, of electric power for about twelve months. It is intended to treat the whole of the hill, sluicing the material into a testing plant consisting of three-tube mills, copper plates, and canvas tables for concentration. The plant is capable of treating 250 tons daily. The estimated cost is 2/ a ton. It is considered that there will soon l)e about 30 men employed. The assistance rendered by the Minister of Mines, the officers of the Department, and Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., member for the district, to assist the mining industry is much appreciated. ■ I
