PORTFOLIO CHANGES.
NOT EXPECTED YET. MR. COATES' POSITION. ENGAGED ON URGENT TASK. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. No decision has been made yet as to when the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates will resume his principal portfolios, and in the meantime the Hon. C. E. Macmillan will continue to carry on as Minister of Public Works and the Hon. A. Hamilton as Minister of Employment. It is possible that the Public Works Statement will be presented in the House over Mr. Macmillan's name, and it is almost certain that the annual report of the Unemployment Board will bear the signature of Mi\ Hamilton. Mr. Coates' original intention was to take over his old offices after the detailed questions connected with the Ottawa Conference agreement had been disposed of, and there is little now to attend to in the Ottawa aftermath. However, in view of the contemplated reorganisation of the Public Works Department—a subject to which Mr. Coates is now devoting his time—it is unlikely that a redistribution of portfolios will be sought until this important change is completed.
