POUND STRONGER.
CURRENCIES ON NEW YORK. (Received 1 p.m.) NEW YORK, November 2. After opening strongly British currencies reacted mildly at the close to-day, the pound closing 5-Bth cents higher at 3 dollars 31 3-8 cente for cables.. The Canadian dollar was 1-ieth lower at 90 11-16 cents.
