COUNTERFEIT GANG.
BROKEN UP IN AMERICA. NEW YORK, October 26. The break-up of a gang of counterfeiters, ' who had issued more than 1,000,000 dollars' -worth of "queer" money in three years, revealed that an expert engraver in the employ of the United States Government was working for the gang. . . Only by the elimination of those men whoee work could measure up to the Government's standard and the consequent isolation of the Government official, was the conspiracy revealed. The leader of the gang, Armeto Sanitello, escaped to Italy before the break-up of the gang, with a considerable - fortune. He cannot be extradited. It was Sanitello, a Sing. Sing prisoner on, parole, who bribed Harry Miller, an expert engraver in the employ of the Government, to do the engraving for the gang. He made excellent copies of the 10-dollar notes. After the Secret Service Department's euspicions had fastened on- Miller he was trailed for months before leading the officials to the counterfeiting plant.
