Sir Francis Humphry*. Sir Francis Humphrye was the first British Minister in Afghanistan after it became a kingdom, in 1922. He wae knighted in 1924, and in 1929 was appointed High Commissioner for Iraq in succession to Sir Gilbert Clayton.
