CLUB FUNDS STOLEN.
SECRETARY FOUND GUILTY. LENIENCY RECOMMENDED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ; WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The jury in the Supreme Court today found Ernest Jolui McDonald, aged 34, a clerk,' guilty on two counts of stealing £130 1/9J, moneys of the Wayside Club, while he was honorary secretary. The jury recommended that, owing to the loose way in which the club had been conducted, the utmost leniency should be shown; the management committee was culpably negligent in handling the finances of the club. The Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, eaid he would give every possible effect to the recommendation. The prisoner was remanded until Friday for sentence. The club -was run on voluntary contributions for , providing food and amenities for the unemployed.
