A.A.A. COUNCIL'S PROTEST. "It seems to me that the Franklin County Council is stalling all the time in this matter," said the chairman, Mr. F. G. Farrell, at the meeting of the council of the Auckland Automobile Association last night, in referring to the state of the Papakura-Bombay section of the main, highway. Discussion arise out of a letter from the Main Highways Board, which stated that it was proposed to submit a further proposal to the Franklin County Council with a view to affecting an early improvement. The board regretted that the County Council, up to the present, had not assented to any of its suggestions for the carrying out of the work, but was hopeful that something definite would eventuate in the near future. Nothing seemed to be done, added the chairman. Summer was coming on, and the road was getting worse and worse. He thought the council should take further steps to bring pressure to bear on the county, to make it do something. _ It was decided to request the Main Highways Board to put the work in hand without delay.
