MAGISTRATES QUIT.
Resenting a compulsory physical examination to determine whether they smoked opium or' used narcotics hyp;odermically, 103 country magistrates "of Honan Province have just resigned. Most ■were found to be users of narcotics.
In, Honan the examination is said to have been disguised form of blackmail. Nearly everybody in the province smokes opium, and the poppy is grown openly and officially taxed. In Eastern Honan, near Luyi Hsien, there is one area of 30,000 mow, or about 6000 acres, -which-is. *11 in. jjoppiee,
