HUSBAND'S DEATH AFTER COLLISION. HAWKE'S BAY ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, this day. As a sequel to a fatal accident which occurred on the Napier-Hastings Road on June 20 last Clara Jane Smyth brought a claim against Arthur John Haslam in the Supreme Court yesterday for £4000 general damages and £33 11/9 special damages for the loss of her husband. The jury found in favour of plaintiff, awarding her £2000 damages. William Smyth, a married man with eight children, a resident of Clive, died in hospital at Napier on July 1 as the result of injuries sustained in an accident on June 20, when he collided on his cycle with a motor van driven by Arthur Haslam.
