Cleopatra's Needle, which stands- on the Thames Embankment in London, was built at Heliopolis, in Egypt, about the year 1475 B.C. Together with a "twin" needle, it was moved later to Alexandria. The Needle stands nearly 70ft high, and weighs 186 tons.
