Y.M.C.A. WORK.

ADDITIONAL FUNDS REQUIRED. The Y.M.C.A. is in need of further financial support and will make an appeal to the public at an early date. A statement sets out that at present over 650 boys are regular members of the Auckland Association, while at least another 1000 have been influenced in some way by the boys' division. Of the membership, 350 boys attend weekly clubs, while 250 participate in various indoor athletic activities and 200 in outdoor sports. During the winter the Association fielded 12 football teams, comprising 150 boys, while there are eight cricket teams, the playing members totalling 100. In addition to the members, 612 boys from 52 different schools visit the Y.M.C.A. for organised programmes. Amoncr the other activities are illustrated travel and educational talks, and visits to factories and works in the city. Over 150 boys regularly use the association's library, while social evenings are frequently held. Further work is done •by first-aid classes and in the "big brother" movement, while each year over 200 boys go into camp at Hunua, where the association has a fine lodge. A further direction in which the association is doing valuable work is in obtaining employment for boys leaving school and by providing vocational guidance.
