DOG CATCHES SHARK.

INCIDENT AT MERCURY BAY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHITIANGA, Monday. On Saturday last a dog captured a shark unaided The blue noee ehark, about 6ft in length and weighing about 1001b, found its way into the inner channel at Wlitianga, and apparently, being unused to the tides in that locality became stranded. Floundering about, he attracted the attention of a fisherman's dog. For about a couple of hours the dog, whose favourite pastime is catching sprats on the waterfront, manoeuvred and eventually drove the shark closer inshore, until he succeeded in securing his quarry.
