CEREMONIAL PARADE.

AUCKLAND GRAMMAS, CADETS "A VERY FlisE BATTAUCCN." The annual ceremonial parade of the Auckland Grammar' School J cadets, was held in the upper grounds of the school this morning. An inspection was/made by the uolonel-comihandanti Colonel J. E. The parade,.was commenced by the marching on of the colours, to which, at the roll of the drums, tlie cadets presented arms. Then followed a salute by the buglers, and a general salute. The march past, which came next, was most impressive, about 900 boys in black serge shirts and shorts with rifles at the slope, marching ~ past the saluting base in" companies to the music of the school band.

Before the parade Colonel Duigan, Majors K. J. Dellow, commanding officer, R. Miles and E. Piittick, D.5.0., and Lieutenant ,K. S. Judson, V.C., made a tour of inspection of the cadets engaged in the ordinary work of the battalion, which comprised artillery practice (appropriately from the high embankment), machine gun practice (portion done blindfolded), signalling and ambulance drill. All this was carried on on the lower ground, while on the upper ground musketry work, company drill, and, on the school range, class firing, were in progress. During this work contests for the Imperial Daughters of the Empire Cup, which ie for the most efficient cadet unit in the Northern Command, and the Clark McCosh Cup, for the secondary school with the best Lewis o-un section, were carried on and were iudo-ed- by Colonel Duigan. The princithe school, Mr. J. H. D. Mahon, was also present, and accompanied the other officers on the inspection of the company. The adjutant was Captain P. A. S. Stein.
