INDIAN SENT TO GAOL METHYLATED SPIRITS ADDICT SNORING UNDER RESIDENCE. A dark skinned Indian, Givan Ganesh (31), a hawker, who was arrested at C o'clock this morning under a countryman's house in Grey Avenue, later appeared before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., in the Police Court on a charge of being found without lawful excuse on the- enclosed premises of Daoria Jaram. Ganesh, for whom Mr. W. Noble appeared, pleaded not guilty. jaram said he lived at 140, Grey Avenue. He knew accused well. This morning he heard someone beneath the house, snoring, so he summoned a constable. Constable Thompson said ho found accused aeleep under Jarain's house. Ganeeh had no explanation to offer. Mr. Noble said accused, who knew Jaram well, had become intoxicated and gone under the house to sleep off the effects of the liquor.. In convicting Ganesh, the magistrate asked if anything was known against him. Detective - Sergeant Kelly passed Ganeeh's lengthy list of previous, convictions to ihe magistrate, remarking that he drank methylated spirits and was incorrigible. "Give me another chance and I'll go to a camp on Friday," said the Indian. "If he went to a camp everybody would clear out," said Mr. Kelly. Mr. McKean told Ganesh that he had been given many chances in the past and that he had a formidable list of convictions. "You spent nine months of 1930 in prison, all of 1031 and about six months of this year," he said. "I think there is nothing else to do but to send you back again." "No, give me another chance," pleaded Ganesh, smilingly. "You appear to be perfectly happy at the prospect of going back to gaol. Do you want six months?" asked Mr. McKean. "Six months too much," replied Ganesh. "Make it 14 days." "No, I will make it one month," said the magistrate. . "That's one month too much," was Ganesh's quick reply. (Laughter.) "No, one month it will be," said Mr. McKean.
