GOLD AT KAWARAU. MUCH PEGGING DONE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. Mr. James Horn, formerly M.P. for Wakatipu, has paid a visit to the claim whore two young miners struck a lead. The deposit is 20ft above the level of the Kawaraii River. The lead is not confined to one claim. There has been much pegging done: in the vicinity of the find. The first party to strike the lend is still driving ahead, with rich ground continuing, and, so far, they have penetrated 30ft with a deep formation carrying gold over the full depth. For a short week last week's yield wns £li>o. A party in the next tunnel is operating on steadily improving prospects, and good yields from this area also appear likely. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Talisman-Dubbo.—The drive on the No. 1 Talisman level has been extended Sft for the week. We are now continuing on in the old drive, which is in a good class of country, carrying a number of quartz stringers. There Is no reef showing since passing through the fault a few feet hack. The block of quartz, north of the fault, appears tn be intact, except for about 20ft high which has filled in. The lode at the fault is about sft wide; some of the stone recovered is good sulphide stone. Golconda, —-The crosscut on the H wall of (he break was advanced 13ft. Total Sift. The'country rock is of the best description and water is coming through. South drive advanced 10ft. total 33ft. The country has boon very firm, but to-day we bored into mild country of good description. OKATJTO WASHUP. Information froin Okanto states that for 125 hours worked, 350z sdwt have been produced
