AMUSEMENTS.
ROXY AND TIVOLI. The current programme at the Roxy and Tivoli Theatres, consisting of two excellent Western iilms—"The Texae Bud Man" (Tom Mix), and "The Riding Tornado -, (Tim fclcCdy)— will give way to-morrow to a programme in which a new film starring another well-known Western actor, Toiri Kcene, will be featured. This is "Beyond the Kockies, a swiftly-moving drama that tells the Htory of a "bad man" hunter who had the hardest job of his life bunting down a bandit woman. This latter vole w taken by Kochellc Hudson, and she is supported by Mario »Wells, Ernie Adams, and William Welsh. The second picture is a British production, "Nine Till Six," which was produced by the same company that gave us "Frail Women" and "The Impassive Footman." The picture which features Loui.se Hampton was produced by Basil Dean from the famous stage play by Aimeo and Phillip Stuart. The story reveals the many sides of life anion}? the London shop girle and mannequins. Several well-known artiste are given subsidiary roles, including Elisabeth Allan, J.<la Bevan, Jeanne de Casalis, Florencs Desmond, Kay Hammond, and Mooro Marriott. Eichard Bird is cast in the lead, CHARITY BARN DANCE. In connection with the screening .on Friday of "On Our Selection," a barn dance will be held at Dixieland Cabaret next Thursday. Music will be supplied by the Dixieland Band, and proceeds will ba devoted to the Auckland Plunket Society, COMMUNITY SINGING. The winter's final gathering will be hold by the Auckland Community Singing Committee to-morrow from 12.30 to 1.30 p.m, in the Town Hall, when the song leader will again be Mr. Veruon T. Drew. This organisation lias been devoting the proceeds from its many entertainments to various charities, chiefly the Mayor's Unemployment Fund. AMATEUR COMPETITIONS. At the West End Theatre last evening the Auckland amateur competitions were continued. 'The first prize in the cirls' song section was awarded to Miss Patricia Wallace. At the Empress Theatre this evening the competitions will be continued, and, in addition to several finals, two choirs from the Kowhai Junior High School will appear.
