POINT CHEVALIER TO HERNE BAY.
Regarding the roading scheme put in hand during Mr. Baildon's time to connect Point Chevalier with Heme Bay, the surprise expressed by "M.P.H." that the carrying firms and commercial houses in general have not insisted on it being pushed on with is shared by all the go-ahead people in the district with whom I have come into contact. It would Be interesting to know why the City Council bas for so long been "marking time" on the job. I am astonished that the large number of men employed on the Stone Jug area levelling the land (for a golf course, it is said) at a cost of many thousands of pounds were not put on to complete the above-mentioned road work as quickly as possible. Surely a job of this nature is of far greater urgency, value, practical utility and importance than a golf course. It is doubtful whether the latter should be tolerated in a residential area if it be true that golf courses are conducive to much vehement profanity.
