AUCKLAND CLUB. Eighty-seven players took part in the Auckland Golf Club's open tournament which commenced at Jlidcuemore on Saturday. Boisterous conditions prevailed, but, even allowing for this, tne cards of the low handicap players were disappointing. The -qualifying round for the Middlemore Cup was played in the morning, the eight players returning the best cards being drawn to contest the trophy in match play. The others were drawn in groujis o£ eight, and played tor a trophy under handicap match play conditions. The best round of the qualifying play was recorded by It. D. Wright, with SO. W. A. Donald was next with bl. Ihe best net score was recorded by A. V. Ganley, with a card of 88—15 —73. The following qualified for the Middlemore Cup:—A. V. Ganley (Titirangi), 88— 15—73; B. S.
