WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
BIRKDALE. The Birkdale Women's Institute held a monthly meeting on Tuesday afternoon, the president, Mrs. P. Lee, was in the chair and presided over a large gathering. The Greenliitli and Albany Institutes were the guests for the day* Mrs. Stanley Phillips gave a talk on lier travels, and also gave a demonstration on basket-making. Mrs. Graham gave a pianoforte eolo, and afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Kay, Imrie, Lee, Graham and Jewell. TAURANGA. A meeting of the Tauranga Women's Institute. was held on October 18, when Mrs. M. C. Jones presided. A number of suggestions received from members will help the committee much when they arrange the programme for the hext 6ix months. During the afternoon Mrs. Pole sang, and a play was read by Mesdames Castles, Jones and MeNaughton. An exhibit is to be forwarded to the Dominion Federation Exhibition in November. Afternoon tea was served, by the hostesses, Mesdames Anquetie, Brough, Bamberry, Phillips and Smedley.
