NO COURT SOLUTION.

TAKAPITNA UNEMPLOYED DISPUTE. RETURN OF BOOKS SOUGHT. "f don't think that there is any reasonable solution by Court proceedings," said Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., speaking about a case this morning, in which the return of certain books of account were sought by the secretary and president of the Takapuna Unemployment Association.

The case was one in which the old president and the old secretary of the association were alleged to have been deposed and two new officers elected in their place. Mr. F. W. Schramm appeared for plaintiffs, the new officers, and Mr. W. P. Pennell for the defendants, the old officers. The defendants wanted the return of the books, showing the cash position of the association, and Mr. Schramm stated that he had been on the job since August. On the other hand, Mr. Fennell said that'those whom he represented had never been deposed, and that the whole proceedings of the plaintiffs was unconstitutional. Mr. Cutten said that the plaintiffs would have great difficulty in proving their case, but he wanted to know what Mr. Fennell was going to do. "In a case like this you can't just sit pat," he said. Mr. Fennell suggested that a meeting should be convened by the old president, whom he represented, when aj.l the books would be put on the table, and future procedure decided on. Mr; Cutten said he did not care by whom the meeting was convened, but if such a meeting were held, and a decision reached by those with authority to be present, he would enforce that decision. To that end he adjourned the case for • three, weeks.
