HOTTEST PLACE.
YESTERDAY AT PALMERSTON. SEVENTY-FIVE DEGREES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.') PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. Palmerston North is believed to have been the hottest place in New Zealand yesterday, as the maximum temperature reached 75 degrees in the shade. In the evening soaking showers, which were very welcome to settlers, fell. Seventy points of rain were registered, this being the highest fall in one -day since August 26. To-day the weather is bright.
