LAWN TENNIS.
DEVONPORT OPENINGS. The official opening of the Hinemoa Tennis Club took place on Saturday, ill the presence of a larse number of Members'. The president, Mr. B. Smith, and the Mayor of Devonport, addressed the gatherin!?, after which Mrs. Smith served the first ball, and a progressive tourney was held. Princess Club.—The president, Mr. L. Harris, and Mr. H. I. W. Meikle addressed a large gathering at the- official opening on Saturday, the first ball being served by the Mayoress. Mrs. Meikle. Cambria Club. — : Tlie .1082-3 season of the Cambria Tennis Club was opened on Saturday. The president, Mr. G. H. Letherby addressing the members, followed by the Mayor of Devonport. There were about DO present. The season wa3 declared open by the Mayoress, Mrs. Meikle. Vauxllall Club.—There were fully 100 members present at the opening of the new Reason at Vauxhall on Saturday. Mr. F. Best, president, and Mr. Meikle gave addresses, after which progressive games took place. Melrose Club.—Some 00 members were present at the opening of the Melrose Club on Saturday, the ceremony was carried out under pleasant weather conditions, addresses being given by Mr. E. W. Alison, Captain Flynn (president), and the Mayor of Devonport.
