RIFLE SHOOTING.

y AUCKLAND DEFENCE CLUB. l > The first long-range shoot of the season i was fired at Penrose on Saturday afternoon - by members of the Auckland City Defence > Rifle Club. As is usual at Penrose the north-easterly wind proved troublesome at 1 SOOyds and 000 yds. O. G. Kelly gained*first place with 46 at e SOOyds and 47 at OOOyds. His total of 03 was " equalled by C. J. Robieson, who, however, had to be content with second place on the count back. B grade members shot well I under the difficult conditions. I. Walker 8 again took top place with 84, Including a ' fine 46 at OOOyds. A. Doel tied with Walker, > but waa counted out to second place in this II grade. 1 Silver spoons wore won by C. J. M. Clark and R. Swift. Trophy points were won : A. grade, C. J. M. Clark 3, G. G. Kelly 2, H. J. Verrall 1. B grade: R. Swift 3, J. Walker 2, M. Simmonds 1.
