WOMEN'S INSTITUTES.
BUCKLAND. The meeting for October was a great success when Mrs. Lewis, the president, presided over 40 ladies. Mrs. Harper gave a demonstration 011 the making of moccasins from prepared sheepskin 6. A competition was won by Mrs. Turbott. Mrs. Seeley and Mrs. Piggot each gave an amusing reading.. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames Stringer, Brownlee and Gillingh&m. WAINUI-AHIPARA. The monthly meeting was held recently at Mrs. Stewart Master's home. There was a large attendance of members and friends. During the afternoon an interesting demonstration of pouffe making was given by' Mrs. Dalton, Kaitaia. Tentative plans for a children's picnic in the summer were discussed. The prize for best article made from a sugar bag was won by Miss L. Masters, with Mrs. Quinlivan second and Mrs. J. N. Bergham third. A couple of competitions were held, the winners being Mrs. Morice and Miss R. Masters. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mr. Stewart Masters and Miss L. Master.
