EX-CHAMPION BEATEN.
A BOXER'S COME-BACK. NEW YORK, October 8. In a boxing bout at New York, Jim McLarnin beat Benny Leonard, who held thme lightweight title from 1917 to 1924 and retired unbeaten. Leonard was trying to make a come-back. The loser was down for the count of nine in the second round. He continued to take punishment till the end of the fifth, when the referee stopped the contest. A sum of £8000 was taken at the gate.
