GOVERNMENT DEFEAT

Adverse Vote in Assembly of South Australia. BUDGET DEFICIT INCREASE. (Received 0.30 a.m.) ADELAIDE, this day. The Hill Government (Labour) was defeated in the Assembly by 27 votes to 16 when the Leader pf the Opposition, Mr.. Butler, was successful in having progress reported on the Wheat Storage Bill. Mr. L. L. Hill, Premier, earlier threatened that the Government would have to consider seriously its position if a bill introduced by the Leader of the Opposition as a private measure, was passed. " Presenting the Budget to the Assembly, Mr. Hill stated that the estimated revenue for 1932-33 was £10,056,807, and the estimated expenditure £11,244,300, the estimated deficit being £I>,lS1 > ,1S7 J 493, compared with £1,063,300 last year. The unemployment position had shown a marked improvement, and the seasonal outlook was encouraging, there being every prospect of a record wheat harvest.
