CHAMPION TOURNEY.
The most exciting match of the champion tournament now In progress at the Central Billiards Saloon was witnessed last night, when C. Lawson (,79, 61, '57) defeated F. Smith (29, 74, ! 50). The final game was a splendid contest, both players displaying potting ability, and with just the black on the table the score board read 50-all. Smith, who had not been very fortunate on the run of the play, left an easy shot nnd Lawson won.
J. Black defeated H. Vern by two games to one, the scores being 93, 12, 58 and 57, 05, 50 respectively. In the' last game Black required nil the colours to win after j the green was off the table. TEAMS' SEMI-FINAL. In the second semi-final of the teams' snooker tournament between J. Black's and E. V. Roberts' teams, the aggregate scores were:—Black, 005; Roberts, 506. A. Porter beat Rogers in two games out of three. James proved superior to Beuth, winning three straight games. Roberts and Black had a great struggle, Roberts winning two games out cjf three.- Goulding had 27 leeway to make up in his frame with Wilson to save his side from defeat, hut Wilson would not let Goulding in and a hard-fought contest came to an end, Wilson winning two games out of three.
