CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL PONSONBY TACKLE GRAMMAR. JIATCH AT WESTERN SPRINGS. If Grammar Schools' Old Boys beat Ponsonby to-morrow or draw with the blue and blacks, they will retain the Gallaher Shield, won last season. In the event of victory for Ponsonby, another match will he necessitated, as the rules provide for replay where the leading teams have an equal number of championship points. At the conclusion of play on September 91 the principal tallies were:—Grammar 23 Ponsonby 21, 'Varsity 10, Maoist 14, Manukau and College Rifles 13. Apart from having two chances out of three of retaining the championship on to-morrow's play, Grammar has an extra incentive to victory, Ponsonby having defeated the whites 12—9 in the first round on May 28. As Eden Park is required from now on for cricket purposes, Grammar and Pon*nnbv settle their differences in tomorrow's senior final at the Western Swings Stadium. As both teams have been in solid training, the contest should be a very keen one and draw a large atten-curtain-raiser will decide whether Craft on will retain senior status or whether Parnell will reappear in the hieher grade.
