HALLYBURTON JOHNSTONE CLUB.
The official opening of the fourth season of the Hally burton Johnstone Bowling Club's green took place on Saturday at the grounds, Point Chevalier, in the presence of a big gathering of local and visiting players. The visitors included Messrs. E. W. Xnder and A. H. Yeoman from the Auckland Centre, also representatives from nearly all the city and suburban clubs, and Helensville. The president, Mr. G. Taylor, welcomed the visitors, especially the Messrs. Inder and Yeoman, from the centre, and thanked them for their attendance. Ho hoped the very fine weather was a forecast of the coming season. Mr. Yeoman, in responding for the visitors. complimented the club on the excellent condition of the green, and wished the members a prosperous season. The Hallyburton Johnstone Club, he said, gave a lot of support to the Easter tournament, which the centre fully appreciated. Mr. Inder also conveyed the best wishes of the centre to the president, and members hoped they would gain a good share of victories in the season's tournaments. The president then requested Mrs. Breckon, wife of the vice-president, to throw the jack and open the green. Mrs. Breckon, after throwing the jack, followed it up with a . perfect "toucher," and declared the green open for play, accompanied by the applause of the assembled bowlers.
