NAURU PROBLEMS.
Dominion Trade Advantages in Depleted Currencies. INEQUITABLE POSITION. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 22. When the British Commissioner presents his report on his visit to Nauru, there is likely to be a closo examination of Australia's and New Zealand's advantages in paying for phosphates in depreciated currencies. Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee's report shows that the posiwas investigated at length at one session, and it was suggested that Britain should make the exchange profit 15/ on every £2 purchased, but it was admitted that the cost was too high for - - Britain to use the supplies. The committee's report expresses the opinion that the position is inequitable and hopes an arrangement will be made fairer to Britain, both in the form of accounts and the price paid for output instead of regarding all currcncies as having identic values.
