NEW TRIAL SOUGHT.
AUCKLAND CONSPIRACY CASE. WAIOTIRA FARMER'S LOSS. APPEAL O&JRT APPLICATION. (By Telegraph.—rress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. On August 27 Reginald Clarence Williams wae found guilty at Auckland by a jury of conspiring, together wit'i Clifford Spencer Dahlin and others unknown, by deceit to aerraud George Payner, farmer, of Waiotira, of £1200. Oh further charges of stealing the sum of £1200, with intent to defraud by means of fake pretences, he was acquitted. To-day an application is being heard by the Court of Appeal for a new trial of the indictment on which he was found guilty, on the grounde that *he- verdict of the jury was against the weight of evidence, and that it is in the interests of justice that a new trial be granted.
