PUKEKOHE DRAINAGE.
POLL TO BE TAKEN. The Pukekohe Borough Council, at a meeting held last evening, decided to take a poll of the ratepayers on or about November 23 on a proposal to raise a loan for the purpose of installing a sewerage system in a special drainage area. Advice was received from the Unemployment Board that No. 5 scheme labour would be available for the work. It was stated that since the estimates of the scheme were prepared the cost of the necessary pipes had been reduced by nearly £3175. This, together with unemployed labour, it is estimated, will result in a saving to the ratepayers of £12,000. The original estimate of the cost was in the vicinity of £32,000, but under present conditions it is considered the cost will be somewhe'p about £23,000.
