■A donation of £5 5/ was made to the Auckland Bovs' Employment Committee by the Auckland Rugby Union executive at its meeting last night. The Junior Boys' Committee advised that Suburbs Club had been declared winners of the junior grade championship. The appointment of Mr. R. Galbraith as manager of the junior team travelling to .Tuakau was approved. A suggestion was made by the J.M.B. that weights in the intermediate grade should . be amended by reducing from 10.7 at time of weighing to 10.0, and the fourth grade from 9.10 to 9.6. The board declared Ponsonby fifths the winners of the grade championship. The following ground officials were appointed for Saturday's fixtures: — Show Grounds, Mr. J. Carr; Western Springs, Messrs. PALMER. BENEFIT. RUGBY LEAGUE DISCUSSION. The possibility of Auckland Rugby League senior fixtures being postponed on Saturday week in tribute of respect to the memory of the late Bert. Palmer, the All Black Rugby player, and as a helpful gesture in the matter of the Auckland Rugby Union's charity match arranged for that day, was mooted in a discussion by members of the Auckland Rugby League last evening. ' The Marist Old Boys' Club, in applying for permission to travel to New Plymouth to play a match against Tarana'ki on October 1, said it was presumed senior matches would be abandoned on that date in view of the Palmer benefit game at Eden Park. The chairman said it had been the intention to play Ponsonby and Marists for runners-up in the championship. The League could keep to its programme and make a donation' to the fund for Mrs. Palmer. Mr. Ivan Cirlpan said he had heard that Marista might be unable to muster their full team for that trip. After discussion it was resolvecT to consult the Marist Club executive at Carlaw Park on Saturday. WELLINGTON V. MARLBOROUGH. (By Telegraph.—(Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Wednesday. The Wellington Rugby team opened its tour of the Seddon Shield districts to-day by defeating Marlborough by 19 points to 9 in brilliant weather. The visiting forwards were superior in the scrums and line-outs, but the Marlborough forwards went well in the loose and raised the home team's score to the final figure after being 16 points behind. Wellington had the advantage in the backs.
