POLICE BALL.
The annual police ball, held in the Town Hall last evening, met with the full measure of success it deserved, and praise was given to the committee for the floral.decorations. Festoons of light foliage, latticed cubicles round the hall, hanging baskets of ferns, numerous palms, and many rows of golden lights were beautifully arranged, and the stage represented a spring garden in full bloom. The proceeds are to aid the Mayor's unemployment fund and St. John Ambulance, and a substantial sum should be obtained. An exhibition of tap-dancing was given by Miss Irene Long and Mr. G. G. Cox. The hostesses were: —Mesdames Till, Hollia, Flanagan, Issell, Moynihan, Thompson, Fclton and Miss Coppell. Those of the ladies' committee present were:—Mrs. S.
