OVERCOME BY FUMES.

Firemen Removed from Hold Of Burning Ship. APUTE SUFFERING. (Received 10.30 a.m.) ADELAIDE, this day. A number of firemen were overcome by fumes while fighting a fire on the German freighter Stassfurt at Port Adelaide. The fire was apparently under control two hours after it wae first noticed, but later a more serious outbreak occurred. Late last night firemen were still at work. Writhing and moaning in agony from pains caused by the smoke fumes, six firemen were removed to hospital. A number of others who took a turn below decks with the hosee were brought up almost unconscious. The fire destroyed the ship's provision room.
