FRANKLIN COUNTY COUNCIL.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Monday. The chairman, Mr. J. N. Massey, M.i , . presided at to-day's meeting of the Franklin County Council. Arrangements were finalised with the Public Works Department for the formation and metalling of the ArarimuPaparata road, and Messrs. Wilson's property at Happy Valley. The work is estimated to cost £2000, of which tli ■> council is to find, a small portion. A bridge is to be provided on the latter road, and the work is to be done b> unemployed relief workers. It was reported that, since April £21,572 16/3 had been expended on man and riding roads. Rates outstanding total £12,176 12/. The work of lowering the bed of cor tain portions of Slippery Creek, JJruu • to improve the flow of water, is to br put in hand. The engineer reported that there wen under No. 5 scheme.
