THE "STAR" MODEL.
ANNOUNCING THE WINNER. MERIT OF WORK RECEIVED. From far and near models of the "Auckland Star" buildings poured into this office and soon benches, shelves and tables were covered with miniatures tof the big "Star" building. The final, selection caused the judges nh little concern, for they had to decide between four models. One, the work of twelve-year-old Alfred Whiteside, 27, Haydn Street, Auckland, •was brightly coloured and surrounded by-imitation grass. TJje other three, by Jack Marr, Manure wa, age IS, Edwin D. Hatch, Laingholtn, Titir&ngi, age 13, and B. E. Willott, 18, Hals'on Road, Dominion Road, age 15, showed infinitely belter workmanship in construction and Colouring, especially that of Jack Marr, who caught with his brush a very striking likeness to Jhb original "Star" building. Eventually the cash prise of fl ivas awarded to Jack Marr, and books were awarded as consolation prizes to Alfred Whiteside, Edwin D. Hatch, and B. E. Willott.
